3rd July 2003
We are very pleased to be playing at De Montfort Hall for this year's Summer Sundae festival. We kick things off at about 12 noon on Saturday (9th August) on the Indoor Stage. For Michael there will be an opportunity to work off his unhealthy 6music habit, and for Andrew the chance to put a few bad Abbey Park memories to rest. For your edutainment and enlightenment on the day, there will be all six of us, for the first time in 8 or 9 months. We will try really hard not to break anything. Another gig, which is to be confirmed, is a support slot with Nina Nastasia at Leicester's Phoenix Arts Centre, in September. Check the gigs page for more details as they become available.

We are delighted to welcome Mr John Parsons to our ranks, on bass. John has been known to us to for sometime as a member of Fourth Quartet, and so he's slotted in very nicely indeed (apart from frightening us all to death with his soft spot for Marillion ...). He popped his Lazarus Clamp cherry at the Musician in April, and hasn't looked back since. George played his last gig as our bassist in December (at the IAC, with Laura Cantrell). He's planning to start up a new project in London, and to fit in some travelling, and we all wish him well with both of these. In the meantime, we miss his energy, comedy and creativity, and are looking forward to fitting in some collaborations with him in the future.

We're also currently mixing our 3rd LP, which will be called, 'It ain't what you do, its what it does to you' (with apologies to Simon Armitage). It will feature both George and John on bass (mostly George), and Gina Murphy on vocals, plus the usual line-up. There should be some cello, banjo and mandolin this time, as well. We've recorded around 35 songs for this, so the mixing and choosing process is taking a little while... Highlights so far are 'Artists' (a Giant Sand cover, reproduced by kind permission of the Man himself), 'Puppies,' 'Woke up drunk' and 'Hope poisoned my life'.
